Back From Tioman Live On Board!

Its been a few days since we were back from our Live on Board trip to Tioman! And i tell you it was GREAT! Saw so many things we wanted to, including Nurse Shark, Blacktips, Turtle, Cuttlefish! Morray Eel..etc..Pics below! And it was just awesome! It seemed like the perfect trip! There was good company, good food, nice air con bunks, with hot shower and free flow of anything you want on board the MV seaborne! ( I must get a cut from seaborne for advertising LOBs for them! www.mvseaborne.com) I love LOB! don't know why ppl look at the cost rather than the enjoyment of no customs transfer, or bus to boat transfer and lugging your dive bags and equipment all around... zzz.. LOB rocks my soaks man! The motto of LOB, Eat-Sleep-Dive-Eat-Sleep-Dive!

The company comprised of from left to right, kelvin Jesper, Samuel, Myself Marcus Chin (aka urchin man casue he got stug so many times by sea urchin) and gabriel. A really fun bunch to spend 2 days and 2 nights on a boat together! The laughs, sun tanning on the star deck and games of bridge we had! fun fun fun!

Prata with curry for Breakfast on Sunday!

Steamboat dinner! on A boat! Saturday night!

So we boarded MV seaborne on the 20th of August 2007 at Singapore yatch club! Said goodbye to our footwear (those who went LOB will know why goodbye footwear) And said hello to our home on the sea for the next 2 days!
After a night of star gazing, we hit the aircon bunks! And arose to tioman in the horizon as we looked over the bow of the boat.

Diving time! our first dive Site was Tiger reef! Did some penetration And saw Seaslugs,
Morray Eel and Nemo!
Upon surfacing onto the boat, just leave your gears on the dive deck, change out and helped ourselves to ice cool watermelon to rid the sea out of our mouths!

Clown fish So beauitful!

Next Dive was at Labas, Saw blue spotted ray and the "evil" crown of thrones, which kelvin took and fed it to the urchin. Crown of thrones eat coral! so are pest! We were doing a good thing! haha.

Blue spoted Ray!

Crown Of Thrones

Ringgis was our 3rd dive site! This time saw turtles, cuttlefish changing its colour and more Eels!

Cuttlefish!

4th dive was at Tioman marine park! this time the visibility was not so good! But had a fun time of fish feeding! All the fishes were in a frenzy around us! Did the 7 wreck exploratory dive with kelvin as our dive leader and saw LionFish!

5th Dive was night dive at Jalang Jetty. Where we saw crabs! Giant grouper! Eagle ray trying to burry itself and cute puffer fish!

After The night dive we had our sumptous SteamBoat dinner! and had a change to walk onto land! And if you could imagine, once our feet touched land it was as if we were still rockin on the boat! And we headed back to mvseaborne to end our day of diving and into our slumber we went dreaming of mermaids! haha!

Next morning we woke ready to dive again!

6th dive was at Jack rock pinnacle!
visibility was predicted to be bad! but we were in the hope of finding lobsters! Well we did not see any lobsters! but Dave our dive leader found a nurse shark in a hole! some of us din get to see though.. too musch silt kicked up already.. haha..

7th dive! Initially visibility at under 12 meters was bad.. But once we hit bottom we discovered an abandoned fishing trap! Poor fishes trapped in it! guess what! two black tips!! We now had to do a recue mission! dave and kelvin to the rescue! i was just the photographer haha! evidence of our good deeds to nature!

So as we went up to 9 meters near jack's rock it was like an underwater aquarium! It was 7th heaven on our 7th dive! haha.. so beautiful! environment.. i was at under 50bars of air but i just wanted to stay under for summore.. so din't tell the dive leader.. please dun do this! please voice out at 50bars and below to begin to surface and do a saftey stop everyone! haha..

neudibranch..(a type of sea slug)

The 7th heaven i was talking about! We all posing in this "underwater aquarium"

Back from Dayang!!

We're back!! And we would like to thank all of you guys who went for this trip for making this trip a success!! :)

The committee had lots of fun, hope you guys had lots of fun too!
haha.. we heard that some of you are actually having withdrawal symptoms from diving and some of you just cannot get enough of it and are looking forward to the next trip! ;) Great! Personally, I am having withdrawal symptoms from the beautiful, laid-back island life.. Although it was not exactly all that laidback and relaxing for me..haha.. :P

This trip was the first time 3 of our committee members went as Dive Master Trainees (DMTs). It was definitely a significant and memorable trip for us. From writing up the proposal, marketing it through our blog and emails, scheduling the OW divers for their theory classes (in the midst of my own final exams), pool sessions and assisting the OW divers for their pool sessions, reminders and checklists, packing equipment and sending everyone up the coach (yes, we went by a comfortable, air-conditioned 40-seater coach cos we had enough people) to finally arriving at the Dayang resort! Hang on, the adventure did not end here! In fact, that was just another beginning!

Welcome to Dayang!

We set off from RSYC at 7pm and headed to Tuas Second link. We had our dinner and to cut the story cut, we arrived at Mersing Jetty at around 1am and hopped onto our dive boat and headed for our destination!
Some of us sat at the 'star deck' of the boat to see shooting stars (and to me, that is always one of the best thing about diving). There was an episode of 'forest fire' which was actually the moon 'rising' from the horizon, looking as orange as err.. fire. haha..
Alritey, and tada! We arrived at the resort at around 4am. We had 4 person to a room and everyone turned in to have their rest.

Early next morning at 8.30am, everyone set off for their first dive after breakfast!

Waiting faithfully for the dive boat at the Jetty.

We had 2 boats for the divers. 1 boat for the 16 OW divers and the other for the advance and leisure divers.
Despite the small little hiccups we had, O-ring kept bursting before the very first dive, everything else went pretty smoothly. :) Here are some pictures to show everyone hard at work at fixing the O-ring and preparing for our first dive.

Busy at work.
Preparing the descent buoy line.

Rigging up.

Food was delicious and during our surface interval, some of us had a game of volleyball and frisbee. I was too tired to chase after the frisbee so I was practically just walking and jogging around.. :X
The rest of us were busy filling up our log books and sat around for debriefs on the dive. :)

The guys at court, playing volleyball.
Debriefing.

We continued on with our second dive, lunch and third dive.

OW divers after their second dive at Pulau Lang.
OW divers posing under water.
Lunch time! All the hungry divers..
Mermaids?! haha.. it's our OW divers!

Of course, I did not forget our advance and leisure divers! Here are some photos of our dear friends.

Tim, Ben, Wenhui and Raynard. Where is Herbert?!?!
Ziqiang and Ezra. Our newly certified advance divers and committee members!

Diving is a sport. It is not only about the skills and people, but also about the marine lives! Here are some beautiful and colourful marine lives.

Cuttlefish.
Blue spotted ray.
One of my favourite, Christmas tree. It's like colourful mimosa in the water.
Clown fish aka Marlin and Nemo.
We look forward to seeing all of you for the next trip which will be a live-aboard. :)
Meanwhile, save up and check our blog and your email often for more details!
